hmm.

i am in a very bad sad sort of mood.

i friend just called me a racist. well, i suppose she didn't do that. but said that i make her uncomfortable sometimes.

i have a very dark, dry sense of humour. i like satire. and i can think of nothing which highlights ignorance more than satirizing it. if you actually listen to so-called "reasons" why certain races are inferior, or why women should stay in the kitchen, etc. - they are all completely ridiculous and WORTH mocking. so i mock.

i am a sketch-comedy type of actor, as well - i pull out characters. you know MADTV's "ms. swan"? alex borstein's character, a korean nail technician, i suppose. a perfect caricature (which is the emphasizing of characteristics to satirize) - to me, this is not a racist portrayal; i lived in korea. i know that any other culture's take on north americans in their culture is just as awkward and therefore can be satirized.

does my satirizing a racist make me racist? no. absolutely not. do some people get uncomfortable facing the politically incorrect aspects of the world. absolutely. i think this is the problem here.

there was a recent episode of "dharma & greg" in which dharma meets some of greg's friends - little people. and she chides him for anything even remotely related, or not, to height, including "so did you watch the Giants game last night?" she reacts by being SO "correct" and inoffensive and treating them like "anyone else" so consciously, that she offends them. THAT is the mess political correctness can get you in.

i call myself a dyke, i call my male gay friends fags, i call women chicks, and i call myself whitey. i play characters like republican men who are homophobic, anti-feminist, and subtley racist. oops, look at me go with my boo-boos - i generalized "republican men" as being right-wing. oops, i generalized "right-wing" as being whatever. give me a break.

this is stupid.

lighten up.
