i get an email from my father telling my brother and i that his czech nanny has died. this affects me, my family, in ways that i can't explain yet. i know we'll all be feeling this. come out of our self-serving cocoons for a moment.

by the way, thanks to all who wrote to me with the subject title "waaaaaaaaa" or some similar cry of despair while my diary was locked. this means a lot to me, and especially now, it's nice to find that at least people who have never met me seem to like me well enough.
